Severe weather possible tonight

June 12, 2013

The National Weather Service is expecting storms to be in Northern Indiana this afternoon and evening.

Wind gusts over 75 miles per hour, as well as hail two inches in diameter or larger, are possible.

Tornadoes are also possible along the incoming warm front.

One time frame given by the NWS for the duration of the storms in the area is from 7 to 11 p.m. tonight.

A flash flood watch will also be in effect from late this afternoon through tonight

Many of these storms will produce torrential rainfall amounts with rates of 1 to 4 inches per hour possible. Given moist ground conditions in many areas, the risk for flash flooding will increase dramatically tonight.

Total rainfall amounts of two to as much as five inches locally are possible.
