Sharp Stoddard: Whitko senior standout excels in three sports

SOUTH WHITLEY — Many athletes aspire to be a record-breaking quarterback, or an Indiana All-Star pitcher, or to average double digits for the basketball team.

Whitko’s incoming senior Alex Stoddard has done all three.

Stoddard has been a varsity starter in football, basketball and baseball since he's been in high school.

Stoddard had over 1,200 passing yards last season as the Wildcats’ quarterback, he collected 71 strikeouts (9.44 per game) and averaged 10 points per game in basketball.

Stoddard has been the starting quarterback for the ’Cats since he was a sophomore.

He broke the completion percentage record at Whitko for a single game and for the season. (game: 85 percent, season: 60 percent). He also broke the most all-purpose yards in a season with 1,673 yards.

Stoddard recently played in the Junior North-South All-Star game at Decatur Central High School in Indianapolis, and was named the MVP.
He pitched four shut-out innings and only gave up one hit.
