SHERIFF'S DEPT.: Patrick promoted to shift sergeant

July 11, 2013

Cory Patrick

COLUMBIA CITY — One of Whitley County’s younger sheriff’s deputies is working his way up the ranks of the department.

Cory Patrick, who has five years with the department, was promoted as the second-shift sergeant Wednesday afternoon.

Patrick was one of three candidates who put in for the position, and he is looking forward to his new role in the department.

“There’s not a lot of room to move up in a smaller department like ours,” Patrick said. “It’s a great opportunity.”

Two years ago, Patrick was the youngest and newest deputy on the department

As several deputies have resigned or retired, Patrick is quickly becoming one of the more veteran deputies.
