SHOOTING: Update

LARWILL — A former Whitley County Sheriff's reserve is in serious condition after being shot in the chest by a 17-year-old escapee from Pierceton Woods.

According to police, the juvenile allegedly attempted to hi-jack the victim's car in the area of Ind. 5 and Old Trail Road in Larwill, and fired a small caliber handgun into the right side of his chest.

When police arrived, the victim had the boy held at gunpoint. The victim was taken to a hospital in Fort Wayne and was treated for the gunshot wound.
