COLUMBIA CITY — A field of 299 boys teams, a record for the 20th consecutive year, and 258 girls teams are entered as pairings for the 20th Annual IHSAA Soccer State Tournaments were announced this week by the Indiana High School Athletic Association.

Boys sectional action at 64 sites — 32 in each class — will be played Monday, Oct. 7 through Saturday, Oct. 12. Sixteen regional sites — eight in each class — will host two rounds each Thursday, Oct. 17, and Saturday, Oct. 19.

Semi-states will be played at four sites Saturday, Oct. 26 in a two-round format with the survivors squaring off in the state championship matches Saturday, Nov. 2 in Indianapolis.

Both of Columbia City’s boys and girls sectional games (Class 2A) will be hosted by Homestead. The boys drew the hosts in the opening round, and will play Monday at 7 p.m. Columbia City’s girls face Huntington North Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Previously in the Canterbury sectional, Whitko’s boys have been moved to the Blackhawk Christian sectional. The Wildcats play Fort Wayne Concordia at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10. Whitko’s girls also drew Concordia, but will play at Bishop Luers in the opening round Monday.
