Sorority celebrates holiday with fanfare

December 19, 2013

Twelve members of Epsilon Chapter, Sigma Eta Fine Arts Sorority, and guest National Patroness Rene Erickson, gathered at the home of Kris Richey for a holiday “Festival of Favorites.”

The Social Committee of Richey, Mary Lou Fries, Jerilyn Geiger, Myra Schmidt, Janelle Smith and Sandy Whiteleather planned and hosted the event. A Swiss raclette dining experience with favorite foods was featured.

The meal began with salad greens and a variety of toppings. Then guests chose from a variety of meats, vegetables, and cheeses to heat in the raclette ovens. This was then served over red potatoes with pickles on the side. Christmas punch, teas and coffee were available. Peppermint brittle and various chocolates were enjoyed for dessert before carrot cake was offered as a surprise to help Richey celebrate her birthday.

Table favors included felt elf pants filled with various goodies, packets of Christmas tissues, mini note tablets and English crackers, which are noisemakers filled with paper crowns and trinkets.

Each member shared a favorite Christmas memory and then suggested a favorite carol, which the group sang. A gift exchange followed. Pictured is Sandy Whiteleather with a raclette oven, which was used to prepare the holiday meal.
