Stephen Jantz, 62

Steven P. Jantz, 62, a resident of Churubusco, passed away at 5:16 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He had been seriously ill for the past week.
Mr. Jantz was born Oct. 10, 1950, in Fort Wayne, a son of John “Jake” and Mary (Tumbleson) Jantz. He spent his formative years there and graduated from Northside High School in 1969.
On June 4, 1977, he was married in Churubusco to Nanette K. Anderson, and lived all of his adult life in Churubusco.
Employed at Food Marketing in Fort Wayne for more than 30 years, he retired as a warehouse worker there in 2006.
He was a member of Teamsters Local 414, and was active as a scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts program in Churubusco for many years. He enjoyed playing golf with his friends, Indiana University basketball, traveling throughout the continental U.S., and was an avid reader. Most importantly he loved and cherished his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Surviving relatives include his wife Nanette; his children, Sarah (Jason) Teague of Churubusco and Adam (Beth) Jantz of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Don Jantz of San Francisco, Calif., and John Jantz of Richmond; and his three beloved grandchildren Ben Teague, Nick Teague and Emily Jantz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Jantz; two sisters, Linda Gradel and Sharon Wright; and by a grandson, Jacob Michael Teague.
At the request of Mr. Jantz there will be no public funeral.
The family will receive friends at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on today from 2 to 8 p.m.
