Stier announces his campaign for sheriff

COLUMBIA CITY — Greg Stier, of Columbia City, recently announced his intention to seek election for Whitley County Sheriff on the Republican ticket.

A Campaign Kickoff Event is planned for tonight at 6 p.m. at The Nook, 223 W. VanBuren St. in Columbia City.

Stier’s initial entrance into public service was at age 17 when he joined the 122nd Tactical Fighter Squadron Air National Guard, where he served for four years.

Stier has been in law enforcement for 24 years. His experience includes two years as a member of a S.W.A.T team and 18 years on the bomb squad.
He served as bomb squad commander for 15 years. This Hazardous Devices Unit takes care of Explosive Ordinance Disposal for 11 counties in Northeast Indiana.

Alongside these ongoing responsibilities, he has worked in the Uniform Division for 20 years, where he was a field training officer, and for the past four years, has worked in the Investigative Division as a detective sergeant.
