St. Matthewâs UM
âSome Kind of Life,â is the title of Michael Dillonâs sermon this Sunday at 9 a.m. The scripture will be from Samuel 2 5:1-5. Cookies and coffee will be offered following church, with Sunday school at 10:30 a.m. There will be no youth. Saturday will be the second ice cream social from 4 to 7 p.m. Our Cluster will meet Sunday, July 15th at Collins UMC at 3 p.m.
St. Matthewâs vacation bible school will be Monday, July 30 to Friday, Aug. 3, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The menâs group will not meet until Sunday, Sept. 9. St. Matthewâs is located at 1460 E. CR 500 N.

Everyone is welcome to attend Troy Presbyterian Church this Sunday for Sunday school at 9 a.m. and worship at 9:50 a.m.The guest speaker for this week will be church member Dennis Crosson. Hollie Branning will provide special music during worship. The church is located one-half mile east of Ind. 5 on W. Lincolnway.
Col. City UM
âProphets Among Usâ is the title of Sundayâs sermon. The scripture is from II Corinthians 12:2-10 and Mark 6:1-13. The mission project of the month for July is Heifer International. The church will have adult summer Sunday school, âShake-Up,â classes going on until Sunday, Aug. 5. High School only confirmation will happen this fall. It will begin with a retreat in late August and classes on Wednesday evenings, with confirmation on Nov. 18. Columbia City United Methodist Church is located at 605 N. Forest Pkwy., Columbia City. Sunday worship times are 8:30 a.m. (traditional) and 11 a.m. (contemporary), with Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. Pastors are David Arnold and Kent Lundy.
The church would like to offer special thanks to all who donated and helped with the booth at Old Settlers Days. The monthly Church Council meeting will be held Monday in Beemon Hall. The annual outdoor worship service and picnic at pastor and Terry Smithâs home will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, July 15. The rain date will be Sunday, July 22. Those attedning should bring lawn chairs and a covered dish. Fishing and swimming will be available in the afternoon. Vacation bible school will be held Monday, July 23 to Friday, July 27 and volunteers are needed.
The annual outdoor worship service and picnic at pastor and Terryâs home will be held on Sunday, July 15 and the rain date is Sunday, July 22.
A volunteer committee is needed to help organize the event.
Oak Grove UM
The scripture reference for this Sunday is 2 Corinthians 12: 2-10. Pastor Gene Rohrerâs sermon is entitled âCruciform Christianity.â The church council will meet after the worship Service. The menâs breakfast will be at 8 a.m. Vacation bible school is Monday through Thursday. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. Sunday school is at 9 a.m. and the worship service is at 10 a.m. Pastor Rohrer said, âTry us if you are looking for a traditional service. We are the âsmall church with a big heart.ââ
W. Point Trinity UM
Pastor Lois Cannon invites the community to the morning worship service at West Point Trinity United Methodist Church at 9 a.m. Sunday school will follow. The church is located at 4980 N. Etna Rd.
The church would like to remind the community that summer worship time is at 9 a.m. with adult Bible study at 8 a.m. The Bread Loaf offering for July will benefit B.A.B.E. in Columbia City. The food pantry emphasis this month is cheese cake mix. Those who wish to donate can drop off the items off at the churchâs office. The Farm Wagon comes Thursday at 1:30 p.m. The first four Thursdays of the month from 12:30 to 4 p.m. will be game and hobby time for those 16 years of age and older. Participants should bring their own games. This event will be held in the fellowship hall with drinks and activities. The church congratulates the Grace graduates. Graduating from high school were Kaitlyn Hockermen, Shelby Fairchild, Cody Brommer and Kory Wood. Those graduating from college were Geri Sue Solomon, Miriam Lipman, Josh Walker, Sam Pullen and Angie Overdeer.
Vacation bible school is about to begin at Sugar Creek Fellowship Church of the Nazarene in Tunker. This yearâs theme is going to be âPRAISE,â where kids will lift God high. This will be open to children ages four through sixth grade. There will be crafts, recreation, snacks and more. Itâs all free. Beginning Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m., the vacation bible school will take place once a week on Sunday evenings July 8, 15, 22 and 29. On Sunday, Aug. 5, the church will hold its annual community picnic and praise program. To register for vacation bible school, contact the Sugar Creek Fellowship Church of the Nazarene at 248-2030. Directions to the church from Col. City: Take Ind. 9 South to Ind. 14. Turn right and travel to 350 West. Turn left and go approximately 2 miles. The church is at the four- way stop in Tunker. Directions to the church from South Whitley: Take Ind. 5 South to 800 South. Turn left onto 800 South and travel approximately three miles. The church is at the four- way stop in Tunker. The church would also like to invite all ages to the worship services at 10 a.m. The Lord is moving, the church is growing and Sugar Creek is the place to come and visit, but leave as friends.
The gale winds were howling, the waters of the Sea of Galilee were foaming white and the fishermen aboard the small craft were gripping the gunnels in their desperation when, almost simultaneously, a couple of them cried out, âItâs a ghost.â Upon hearing their voices, the Lord Jesus responded, âIt is I, stop being afraid.â Peter answered by challenging Jesus. This text will form the basis for Pastor Blakeâs message to the church family Sunday during the 10:30 am worship service.
