Columbia City UMSunday’s sermon title is “The House of the High Priest: Courage,” from the book, “24 Hours That Changed the World,” by Adam Hamilton. The Scripture will be from Mark 14:53, 55, 61-68, 70-72. Columbia City United Methodist Church will be studying this book through Lent. Sunday school classes are also participating in the study.There will be a cook-off Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Columbia City United Methodist Church, located at 605 N. Forest Parkway, Columbia City.The cook-off is opened to the public. 11 teams will vie for bragging rights, the Golden Ladle Award, and will raise funds for local missions and church ministries. The cost is $5 at the door, per person, to taste all 11 different chili’s plus a dinner of your favorite chili, a grilled cheese sandwich, homemade cookies and beverage. It costs a quarter to vote for a favorite chili. The March Mission Project of the Month is UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief. Attendees can choose to dine in or have a carry out meal for a free will donation. The menu includes fish and tenderloin, coleslaw, chips, applesauce, homemade desserts and ice cream, lemonade and tea.
