SUPPORTING SCHOOLS: Region 8 provides educational services for area students

COLUMBIA CITY — Whitley County Consolidated School District’s Board of Trustees heard about regional benefits in its own backyard recently.

Joshua Wenning, executive director of Region 8 of the Education Service Center, explained to the board how this regional group supports local education.

WCCS is one of 45 member school districts from 14 counties in Region 8. The office is located in Decatur.

Wenning shared the benefits for instructors, such as development workshops. He also discussed advantages for districts, such as a pooling of substitute teachers.

The group also researches cost-saving measures.
