Tammy Lynn “Memaw” Hammons, age 51, of Columbia City, passed away at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011 at Parkview Hospital of Fort Wayne. Born Nov. 11, 1959 in Prestonsburg, Ky., she was a daughter of Charles Edward and Emmalene (Shelton) Stumbo.
On Aug. 8, 1989, she married Dane R. Hammons in Pikeville, Ky. A lifetime resident of Indiana, she resided in Whitley County for 28 years. A wife and mother, she was a former employee of Edy’s Ice Cream, Fort Wayne. She attended Eagle Quest Church, Columbia City.
Survivors include her husband, Dane Hammons of Columbia City; son, Stephen (Angela) Knezevich of Churubusco; daughters, Adrena (Jerimiah) Simmons of Columbia City, Amber (Heath) Spencer of Mannford, Okla., Nicole (Shawn) Born of Fort Wayne and Tabathia Walsh of Virginia Beach, Va.; mother, Emmalene Powers of Urbana.; brothers, Tom Stumbo and Darrell (Laura) Stumbo, all of Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters, Susan (Ralph) Kendrick of Virgie, Ky. and Mary (David) Moser of Urbana; grandchildren, David and Andrew Knezevich, Ricky Duncan of Churubusco, McKenna and Aaliyah Simmons of Columbia City, Brittany, Natasha and Rayce Spencer of Mannford, Okla., Ian “Bubba” and MaKaylee “Rosie” Born of Fort Wayne and Jorden and Ricky Walsh of Virginia Beach, Va.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles E. Stumbo and sister, Sharon Shoda.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Saturday at Eagle Quest Church, 1120 N State Road 109, Columbia City, with Pastor Rick Pride officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery, Columbia City.
