‘Taste of the Town’ slated for May 17 at Courthouse Square

May 6, 2014

Columbia City High School’s Eagle Tech Academy is known for its innovative learning process and collaborative team projects. However, Taste of The Town is bringing learning to the Courthouse Square.

An event planned by ETA students will bring local businesses and restaurants together at the Whitley County Courthouse Square Saturday, May 17 from 4 to 9 p.m. There will also be a car show and local bands during the event.

“We feel people don’t know some of the things Columbia City has to offer,” said Miranda Ringel, a sophomore at ETA. “The idea is to hold a block party. We want all of the local restaurants and other family-oriented businesses to come together.”

Area businesses will have booths set up around the square, and ETA students will help assist. By offering a helping hand to the vendors, students gain the experience of community service. The assignment was given to students in Nancy Beyhan’s advisory class.
