COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s Redevelopment Commission (RDC) met Tuesday afternoon to discuss the possibility of changing the boundaries of the downtown area’s Tax Increment Funding (TIF) District.
“We’re making sure properties that are legally supposed to be in there are there, and the ones that aren’t are taken out,” said Kevin Snell of Columbia City’s RDC.
Snell said when the TIF District was adopted in 1993, some properties were put in the area in error.
The RDC hired a municipal advisor, Carter Dillon Umbaugh, LLC, at $2,900, to review the TIF area and provide suggestions to the commission. A representative from Carter Dillon Umbaugh, LLC was present at Tuesday’s meeting with a map to overview his findings.
RDC members are taking the map under review, and a special committee will be formed to make decisions on the map.
