COLUMBIA CITY — “Change the rage in this room.” This was the goal for eight students from Columbia City, Whitko and Churubusco high schools as they came together to present “The Outrage,” a dramatic presentation authored by Safehome.
Columbia City High School students watched the 20-minute play that conveyed a story of a teenager, Rachel, played by WHS senior Tiffany Schuman, faced with an aggressive boyfriend, Adam, played by CCHS junior Josh Graham.
Other cast members offered the audience statistics of teen dating violence as well as explained the difference between rape and sexual assault.
The event was spearheaded by the Whitley County Domestic Violence Task Force as an extension of Teen Dating Violence Awareness month which was recognized in February.
Not only did the presentation encourage those who are in a violent relationship to seek help, it also empowered friends, adults and parents to speak up and not tolerate the violence.
