Terry Hammel, 68

Terry Alan Hammel, 68, Jacksonville, Fla., and formerly of Huntington, passed away Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at 10:50 p.m. at the Haven Hospice in Orange, Fla.
Mr. Hammel was born May 23, 1945, in Huntington, to Meredith Luther and Marion Jean Steele Hammel.
His mother survives and resides in Huntington. His father preceded him in death on July 1, 2004. Mr. Hammel married Connie Rae Reckard Aug. 13, 1965 in Huntington. She survives and resides in Florida.
Terry graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1963 and attended Universal Truck Driving School at LaSalle University.
Terry was inducted into the Huntington County Hall of Fame for basketball. He attended Faith Chapel United Methodist Church when he resided in Huntington. He was a lifetime member of the NRA.
Mr. Hammel was employed at Fox Products, Inc., South Whitley, as an Engine Lathe Machinist and also worked at Transfleet Enterprises, Fort Wayne, as a truck driver. Mr. Hammel retired in 2010.
Along with his mother and wife, Terry is survived by two sons, Stacy Lane (Alysia) Hammel of Warsaw and Tyler (Angela) Hammel of Jacksonville, Fla; one daughter, Tina (Kevin) Easterday of Jacksonville, Fla.; three brothers, Ron Hammel of Huntington, Steve (Shirley) Hammel of Palm Harbor, Fla. and Brent Hammel of Roanoke; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Terry (Cheryl) Reckard of Huntington.
Along with his father he was preceded in death by one grandson, Justin Hammel.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, 2978 W. 1100 N., Huntington.
The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, 2978 W. 1100 N., Huntington, with Pastor Diana Siegel and Andrew Hawk officiating.
In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to the Hospice Foundation of America (HFA) in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.
Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Huntington.
