Thomas Jarvis, 76

Thomas C. Jarvis, Sr., 76, of Columbia City, died at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Parkview Whitley Hospital. He was born in Olive Hill, Hazard County, Ky. April 13, 1934, son of Ralph Herbert and Virginia Agnes (Edson) Jarvis.
He attended Olive Hill Kentucky School moving to Allen County and in 1991 he moved to Whitley County. He married Sue C. Ford May 23, 1980 at Lake Chapel, Fort Wayne. He worked at Kroger Warehouse receiving dock, Fort Wayne, for 20 years and Wal-Mart, Columbia City, for eight years as a friendly greeter.
Survivors include his wife, Sue C. Jarvis of Columbia City; son, Thomas C. Jarvis, Jr. of Columbia City; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and 15 brothers and sisters.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Christopher Donald A. Jarvis.
Visitation is 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Ralph Easterhaus of St. John’s Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Churubusco.
