Ticket to game supports leagues

March 8, 2011

Columbia City residents are invited to support the local youth baseball and softball leagues by attending Columbia City night at the TinCaps.
A block of seats at Parkview Field have been set aside for Columbia City people for the June 14 game against the Dayton Dragons. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
To be a part of a fun evening that includes on-field games and contests, a ceremonial first pitch thrown out by a member of the local youth leagues, baseball buddies and a chance to run the bases of Parkview Field, contact the parks department at 248-5180. Tickets are $8 with proceeds supporting the youth leagues at Morsches Park. Deadline to purchase tickets is May 20.
Also, Columbia City youth leagues are looking for umpires for this summer. Umpires are needed in both baseball and softball leagues from lob ball through Babe Ruth. Training will be provided. Umpires must be 15 years of age or older. Umpires are compensated $10 per game for lob ball and $20 per game for minor, major and Babe Ruth leagues.
For more information, call the park at 248-5180.
