COLUMBIA CITY â€” After many snow delays, Indian Springs Middle School was finally able to hold its annual spelling bee Thursday, Jan. 16 in the Carver Center.
Twenty-seven sixth, seventh and eighth grade students participated, spelling 86 words in 7 rounds. The winner was seventh grader, Cris Robinson, and the runner-up was eighth grader, Eric Burkholder.
Robinson is the son of Mark Ash and Myla Timms. His winning word was â€śimperil.â€ť
Robinson participated in last yearâ€™s school spelling bee coming in third and is a member of the Spell Bowl team. Burkholder is the son of Earl and Beth Brubaker. He missed the word â€śatrocious.â€ť
Burkholder participated in last yearâ€™s school spelling bee and is also a member of the Spell Bowl team. Robinson will represent Indian Springs at this yearâ€™s Whitley County Spelling Bee which will be held Monday, at South Whitley Elementary School beginning at 5 p.m.
