TOWN IMPROVEMENT: Committees look to move ahead in South Whitley

February 28, 2013

SOUTH WHITLEY — Some ideas are finding their way to fruition in South Whitley.

After several brainstorming sessions, Whitley on The Move (WOTM) formed a handful of committees to take community suggestions and begin working on action plans to bring those ideas to life.

Now, two committees have the opportunity to move out of the brainstorming stage and into a planning progression.

Julia Robinson, WOTM’s organizer, gave town council members an update at Tuesday night’s meeting.

“There is a lot of excitement coming from these committees,” Robinson said. “I am happy to report that we have some things that will actually start to take shape this summer.”

The Recreation and Health Committee has been working on a trail network. This would give bicyclists and walkers a way to travel through town safely.

“This is a good thing for our kids too,” Robinson said. “They will have a way to get to school that is safe and keeps them away from traffic.”
