Toys for Tots extends hours

COLUMBIA CITY ­— Toys for Tots recently announced that it has extended its hours for families to sign up for the program. The Salvation Army of Whitley County will accept sign ups from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday from now until Dec. 6.

Those experiencing difficult times or know someone who is, and will need assistance this Christmas, can take part in the toy program. To sign up for the program, visit the Salvation Army office located at the First Church of God, 1200 W. Depoy Dr. in Columbia City.

Parents may sign up for their children birth to 16 years old. Applicants must bring photo identification, proof of Whitley County residence such as a utility bill and evidence of income. For more information, contact the Salvation Army at 248-1711.

For those wanting to donate toys, collection barrels are located throughout the county. Some of the locations include:
