FORT WAYNE — Girls tracksters had their shot at qualifying for the regional Tuesday, and the boys took their turn at Thursday’s sectionals.

Churubusco’s athletes competed at North Side, while Whitko and Columbia City headed back to Wayne for the second year in a row.

Two tracksters had standout performances — Whitko’s Connor Stouder and Churubusco’s Austin McClure.

McClure took first place in both of his throwing events.

He won the discus with a heave of 152 feet, 2 inches — 10 feet more than his closest opponent.

In the shot put, McClure had a toss of 53 feet, 1 inch — nearly 6 feet farther than his closest opponent.
