TRASH PICKUP TO BEGIN NEXT WEEK: City provides opportunity to beautify properties

May 30, 2014

Items are beginning to pile up on curbsides in Columbia City.

The 2014 junk pick up dates are approaching, and citizens are preparing items to be collected by Columbia City’s trash service.

Junk pick up will be divided into two sections this year — the west side of the city will be collected Saturday, June 7, and the east side of the city will be collected Saturday, June 14.

The trash must be taken to the curbsides or alleys before 6 a.m. on those days.

The west side of the city includes any homes and subdivisions that fall west of Ind. 9, such as Heritage Place, Chesapeake Landing, Wilkswood, Wood Dale and Deer Chase.

The east side of the city includes any subdivisions and homes that fall east of Ind. 9, including Eagle Glen, Irish Glen and Countryside Mobile Home Park.

The service is provided only to those living within city limits.

There will be no charge for tires, stoves, washers, dryers, hot water heaters, dishwashers, refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers, batteries or any other appliances.
