TRASH: Yard waste weighed by council

SOUTH WHITLEY — Spring weather means lawn mowing, landscaping and yard work of all kinds.

Some South Whitley residents questioned town council members as to the correct procedure in disposing of yard waste.

“We need to cut our grass and clean up limbs,” said a homeowner present at Tuesday’s meeting. “Now that we have these trash containers, we don’t know what to do with our grass clippings.”

Earlier in the year, South Whitley began a new contract with Advance Disposal for trash pick up. At the time of contract negotiations, it was determined by the council to select the contract option that provided trash containers for each resident in town.
