Weather cancels sports for third straight night

February 1, 2011

Poor road conditions have brought the Whitley County sports schedule to a halt for a third consecutive night. Columbia City's girls' basketball game at home against Huntington North for tonight was postponed one night. The game is set to tip off Friday night at 6:15 p.m.

Wednesday's Whitko girls' basketball game at Triton has been canceled due to inclement weather. Due to schedule conflicts the game will not be made up. The Lady Wildcats will debut in the sectional tournament at Columbia City 7:30 p.m. next Wednesday.

The snow storm Tuesday night and additional inches that fell late Monday and Tuesday morning shut down sporting events in Whitley County for Tuesday. The two varsity boys' basketball games schedule for Columbia City and Whitko have been postponed to later in February. The Eagles will play their home game against FW Northrop Feb. 16 while the Wildcats at a road trip to Carroll set for Feb. 23. In the coming days stay tuned to www.thepostandmail.com for updates on postponements and cancellations.
