Turnover sparks discussion for Electric Dept.

COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s Board of Works approved the hire of two new members to the electric department, as one employee moved on to another company and another is set to retire in January.

The hiring process may be slightly different this time, as city officials are working to avoid high turnover.

The city puts money and effort into training new employees, and in some cases, employees have moved on to private electric companies with the training they’ve received at the city.
