Undefeated Eagles down North Side

FORT WAYNE — Columbia City’s baseball team improved to 3-0 Tuesday, beating North Side in Fort Wayne, 5-0.

Eagle Connor Slavich pitched an 11-strike-out shut-out, with no walks and four hits on seven innings.

Columbia City scored two runs in the first inning, two in the last inning and one in the second, leaving the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings run-less.

The Eagles finished the game with no errors, while North Side had two.

Landon Rehrer led the team in batting, going .666 from behind the plate. Though Rehrer didn’t score, he helped the team with an RBI.

Slavich, Connor Reed and Gary Ormsby all scored for the Eagles. Slavich and teammate Jacob Johnson, each stole a base.

Ormsby and Reed both hit .500.

Columbia City’s home-opener is Thursday, facing Wawasee.
