UNITED WAY: Big bucks distributed across county

August 13, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — After exceeding its goal of $190,000 by $15,000, the United Way of Whitley County awarded $100,000 in grants to local organizations.

“This is almost $20,000 more than we gave back last year,” said Executive Director Cindy Baker. “We know the dollars raised are not as important as how those dollars are invested into the community to give hope and change lives.

“But we do know that it is those dollars that make change possible. Change cannot happen without people in our community.”

•TROY Center — $10,900
