•A Night In Italy - 5 p.m.
The Salvation Army will be holding an event ‘A Night In Italy’ Friday, March 15, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Grace Lutheran Church. Eat a Italian dinner with family or friends while enjoying live violin music.
Adult meals are $5, ages 4 to 10 meals are $3, and ages 3 and under meals are free.

•Parenting class - noon
This class combines basic parenting information and tips from Parkview’s Safe Slumber program. Topics include training in basic infant care, infant CPR, how to interact with your newborn, car seat safety and information on SIDS.
A free portable crib, crib sheet, swaddler and pacifiers will be given to those who qualify. Registration is required. For more information, call 248-9321.

•Heart bus - 8 a.m.

Tuesday, March 18

•Rotary auction
Churubusco Rotary Community and Scholarship Auction will be held at Churubusco High School cafeteria Tuesday, March 18. The buffet starts at 5:30 p.m. and the action will start at 6:30 p.m.
Generous donations of services and merchandise from area businesses and individuals will be up for bid.

•Healthy recipes - 6 p.m.
Join the experts and learn to turn your vegetables into scrumptious treats.
Reservations are required. Space is limited. Call Parkview Whitley Hospital Community Relations at 248-9400 to reserve your place and the cost.
Free event with samples and recipe cards are provided. Participants will recieve complimentary YMCA family membership for eight weeks, recipes, menu planners, tips on eating awareness and access to the best website.

Saturday, March 22

•Neuter for a nickel
The Whitley County Humane Shelter is offering for the second time, Neuter for a Nickel Day, Saturday, March 22.
Neuter for a Nickel offers local residents Residents must call 212-2324 for an appointment prior to the event. Neuter surgeries will be provided for cats ages eight weeks and older on a first-come, first-served basis.

•County clean up - 9 a.m.
Family and friends can join Leadership of Whitley County members to clean up the Blue River Trail.
LWC will be picking up sticks, weeding, picking up trash, and doing some trimming. The only thing helpers need to bring are work gloves.
The group will meet at the pavilion by the baseball diamonds at Morsches Park.

•Chilli super - 4 p.m.
A chili supper and silent auction will be sponsored by Wesley Chapel Warriors March 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Wesley Chapel Church, 13733 Wesley Chapel Rd.
The menu will consist of chili, hot dogs, cornbread muffins and desserts.
Freewill donations will be accepted to support the Relay for Life team.

Sunday, March 23

•Bowl-a-thon - noon
A bowl-a-thon will be held Sunday, March 23 from noon to 3 p.m. at Main Bowl, 303 S. Main St. in Columbia City.
The cost is $7 for three games. For children ages four and younger, the cost is $4. Shoes are free. Those wanting to participate should plan to check in between 10 and 11:30 a.m. Bowling will start at noon.
Five to six people will be allowed per lane, door prizes will be awarded to bowlers and the event will be held in a smoke-free facility. For reservations, call Mona Jones at 503-0162 or Jacque Frasher at 229-7695.

•Preparing for birth - 6 p.m.
Lamaze and childbirth education classes are designed for expectant mothers and their partners.

Tuesday, March 25

•Kindergarten round-up
The elementary schools of Whitley County Consolidated Schools will hold a kindergarten round-up for the students of the 2014-2015 school year.
In order for a student to be eligible for round-up screening they must be five years old before August 1, 2014.
Parents need to contact the school to register for round-up.
Each school will hold its round-up on March 25. Call the appropriate school immediately to schedule an appointment.
