UPCOMING EVENTS:

Friday
• Walk of Trees - 5 p.m.
In its fourth year, The Walk of Trees will open for tours Friday at 5 p.m. and will continue Fridays and Saturdays from 5 to 8 p.m. through Saturday, Dec. 14. at The Clugston, Chauncey Street, Columbia City.
More than 20 trees are expected to be a part of this year’s walk.
As visitors take in the twinkling lights and holiday cheer, raffle tickets can be purchased for $1 and dropped off at the base of each tree. At the end of the walk, a winning ticket will be drawn and the selected ticket holder is able to take home their selected tree.

Saturday
• Hanging of greens - 5 p.m.
Hanging of the Greens will be Saturday, at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at Churubusco United Methodist Church.
This Advent celebration is a holiday gift for the season. It will be a time of reflection and music. Childcare will be provided.

• Breakfast with Santa
The Columbia City Main Street Association will sponsor a Breakfast with Santa event Saturday at 8:30 and 10 a.m. at Downtown On The Square.
Pictures with Santa and breakfast will be offered for a freewill donation. Reservations are required by calling 244-6388 or 244-4011.

• Holiday art sale - 10 a.m.
The 11th Annual Holiday Artists’ Sale at Teasel Hill will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Unique handcrafted gifts, stoneware, handspun yarn, knitted items, meat and greens from local farms as well as craft demonstrations are all featured. The sale will be located at 3286 N. 50 W. in Columbia City.

• Cinema Saturday - 10 a.m.
South Whitley Community Public Library will present the animated classic holiday movie, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” at 10 a.m. Saturday. At 10:30 a.m. the newer version starting Jim Carrey will be shown.

• Open house - 2 p.m.
South Whitley Community Public Library will hold an open house for its new youth center, The Foundation. The new facility is located next to the library at 207 E. Front St.

• Santa event - 3 p.m.
Minear Real Estate will hold a Santa and live reindeer event Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. at its office located at 205 W. Van Buren St. in downtown Columbia City.
It is a free event and open to the public. Cookies and refreshments will be served.

• Choir concert - 2:30 p.m.
The Whitley Community Children’s Choir (WCCC) will be performing with the DeKalb Community Children’s Choir, Youth Chorale and Chamber Singers at the Rejoice Concert — “The Rhythms of the Season” Saturday at 2:30 p.m., at the Peabody Public Library. The choir is under the direction of Becky Walter and accompanied by Jolene Stewart.

Sunday
•S. Whitley holidays- 3 p.m.
South Whitley will hold its first Home for the Holidays from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday and is sponsored by Whitley on the Move with several family-friendly activities in the offering by a variety of South Whitley organizations and businesses.
A Christmas tree will be decorated from items made in the Town Hall during the event.
The decoration-making is free. Hot chocolate and candy canes will be served at Town Hall.
At Eberly’s Photography and Videography, pictures with Santa are offered and the Lions Club will be handing out sacks of treats.
The Brownstone on State will offer free cookie decorating for children under the age of 12, with hot drinks and additional desserts also available for purchase.
A live Nativity will be presented at Crossroads Bank.
Firemen will be on hand to transport Santa to the bandstand gazebo just before 6 p.m., where lights will be lit and a traveling trophy will be awarded to the downtown business with the winning wreath display from the Deck The Stores contest.
Live music at several locations will round out the holiday spirit.

• Open house - 2 p.m.
The Whitley County Historical Museum will host a Christmas Open House Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the museum, 108 W. Jefferson St., Columbia City.
