UPDATE: Fort Wayne bomb squad to dispose of bomb

July 31, 2012

COLUMBIA CITY - According to Columbia City Police Captain Tony Hively, Fort Wayne's bomb squad has possession of the bomb found at Ace Hardware in Columbia City, and will dispose of it properly.

The bomb was found after a tip from a citizen about a customer buying precursors for meth.

Upon investigation, shrapnel and gun powder were found in the vehicle, along with two BB guns.

Area businesses were evacuated. Captain Hively said he cleared a 300-yard radius as a safety precaution. Columbia City was never declared in a state of emergency.

According to Hively, a female suspect was taken into custody.
