VACANT CROSSING: Railroad stretch to close

COLUMBIA CITY— Indiana’s Department of Transportation (INDOT) will be vacating a stretch of road and a railroad crossing in Whitley County.

In order to accomplish that, the county must close the southern approach to the railroad crossing, which is located on CR 700 East.

According to Whitley County Engineer Brandon Forrester, INDOT wishes to take the railroad equipment at that crossing and use it on a busier intersection.
