VEHICLE MAKEOVER: City to change police car color

November 20, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s police cars are going to take on a new color next year.

The Columbia City Board of Works unanimously approved to change from the current dark blue squad cars to white, as well as a new logo on the vehicles.

“We’ve had the same color and striping package on the cars for a long time,” said Columbia City Police Chief Tim Longenbaugh. “I think it’s time for a change.”

Board of Works member Walt Crowder agreed.

“Change sometimes motivates and changes people,” Crowder said. “I think this is a positive thing.”

Switching from blue to white is not only going to give the cars a different look, but also save the city money, and the department will be able to receive new cars sooner.
