VETERANS MARATHON: Happy homecoming for Hare family
COLUMBIA CITY — When Kende Hare made the decision to participate in the Columbia City Veterans Marathon last year, she didn’t know if her husband would be able to see her cross the finish line.He husband, Jason, was stationed in Kuwait for 10 months as a flight medic, and didn’t know when he was going to return home.Regardless, Kende trained all summer for her first marathon.“I’d always wanted to run a full marathon,” Kende said. “When Jason was deployed I decided I wanted to do this race for all veterans.“It was important to me to show my gratitude for those who sacrifice for all of us.”Kende said she enjoyed watching the Veterans Marathon last year, and running her first marathon in town was a no-brainer.To read the rest of this story, see the Nov. 12 issue of The Post and Mail.
