COLUMBIA CITY — Blue skies and mild temperatures are standing by for Saturday morning’s Veterans Marathon in Columbia City.
In the fifth-annual event, athletes can expect temperatures in the upper 50s with partly sunny skies.
Online registration for the race closed at 11 a.m. today.
Defending champion Justin Gillette, who has won every Veterans Marathon since its inception five years ago, is looking to grab his fifth win this year.
Columbia City Police and Whitley County’s Sheriff’s Department will be assisting with traffic control during the race, which will take a slightly different course this year.
While runners previously ran a loop southeast of town and another west of downtown, this year’s race will take two loops on the southeast course.
