A young woman from Churubusco was killed early Tuesday morning when her car left the road, rolled several times and ejected her, according to police.
Twenty-three-year-old Nicole M. Johnson was traveling south on U.S. 33 at about 1:20 a.m. and had recently left the Churubusco town limits when for an unknown reason her car went off the west side of the road and rolled, according to a news release.
Johnson, who police believe was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the four-door car and pronounced dead at the scene near county Road 300 North, according to the report.
Indiana State Police, the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department, Churubusco Police Department, Smith Township Fire Department and Whitley County Coroner’s Office all responded.
The crash remains under investigation.
