The Whitko girls basketball team hit the road on Tuesday night to Wawasee and took a tough 54-21 loss to the Lady Warriors. The Lady Wildcats went up against a talented Wawasee team that is ranked ninth in Class 3A. Whitko fell behind early 16-4 after the first period. The second quarter was closer with Whitko holding Wawasee's lead to 26-10 at the break. The scoring stayed close in the third period as well with the Warriors out scoring Whitko 10-8. In the final period Wawasee ran away with the contest and sealed the victory 54-21 over Whitko. For the Lady Wildcats, it was junior Jamie Westness leading the way with 10 points while Veronica Jersey and Beth VanHoozen both contributed four points. Emily Bidwell also had three points of her own on the night. The loss drops Whitko to 8-9 on the season. The ’Cats will stay on the road Saturday for a trip to Northfield before return home against Wabash on Jan. 27. |
