By Chris Meyers Staff writer A Chicago woman, who is co-owner of Riverside Café in South Whitley, was injured Monday when she was ejected from her SUV as it rolled off the road. According to police, 43-year-old Eustolia Tapia, was driving east on state Route 14 with her husband in the SUV when she drifted left of center for an unknown reason about a half-mile west of the intersection with Washington Road. Indiana State Trooper Joe McLaughlin said Tapia lost control when she tried to bring the SUV back into her lane. The vehicle left the south side of the road and rolled at least three times before it came to rest upright in a muddy field. Tapia, who was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected, suffered a “severe laceration” to her head, but the injury was not life-threatening, according to McLaughlin. Tapia’s husband, who was a passenger in the SUV, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, according to police. Whitley County EMS, the Washington Township Fire Department and sheriff’s deputies also responded.
