By TJ HEMLINGER Staff Writer A 22-year-old Fort Wayne man pleaded guilty Monday morning in Circuit Court to sexual misconduct with a minor and could be sentenced to up to eight years in prison on the Class C felony. Shane C. Murphy admitted fondling or touching a 15-year-old boy here in Whitley County. Judge James Heuer set a sentencing date of Aug. 10. In other cases Monday: • Douglas P. Johnson, 41, of Columbia City, will have a jury trial on Oct. 13 on two charges of child molesting, one a Class A felony with a maximum sentence of 50 years and the other a Class C felony, and two charges of sexual misconduct with a minor, one a Class B felony and the second a Class C felony. • Mary E. Sellers, 38, of Columbia City, had her six-year prison sentence modified to work release. She had been sentenced to 10 years with six to serve Sept. 22, 2008, on a charge of dealing in a controlled substance. • Bobette S. Jackson, 39, of Fort Wayne, appealed for sentence modification after completing a substance abuse program. Her release date is Feb. 10, 2010. Heuer said he would talk to the jail commander before handing down a ruling. • Tracie S. Chiddister, 40, of Albion, also had completed the substance abuse program and applied for sentence modification. Heuer told her he would similarly talk to the jail commander. • James W. Scott Jr., 45, of Claypool, had his jail time reduced to time served. He still owes $1,280 in restitution. • Toney E. Coe, 47, of South Whitley, had his initial hearing on child seduction, a Class D felony. There will be a pre-trial conference at a later date. • Jody L. Bear, 38, of Churubusco, had her case on a misdemeanor charge of check deception continued to Aug. 30 to give her time to pay her prosecutor’s fee for the deferred prosecution plan. • Jason M. Stults, 28, of Columbia City, had a bench warrant issued for his arrest for not being in compliance with a deferred prosecution agreement and missing a court date. His bond was set equal to the amount he owes.
