Local shopping is idea behind program
By DEANNA POGORELC Staff Writer As the holiday season rolls around, the Columbia City Area Chamber of Commerce and its members are encouraging the community to shop local by giving away more than $700 in prizes to shoppers of local chamber businesses. From now through Nov. 27, anyone over age 16 who makes a purchase of $3 or more at participating merchants will be entered into a drawing to win one of three prize sets, including a grand prize. Michelle Culbertson, the administrative assistant for the chamber, said the exact prizes will be finalized this week, but most of them will be gift cards donated by participating businesses. All of the winners will also receive a carriage ride through town. Culbertson said the promotion is meant to encourage people to rediscover downtown Columbia City and check out new businesses that have come in. The drawing will take place Nov. 27 during the lighting of the Christmas tree downtown. Participating businesses include BrewHa, Ball Furniture, CC Deli, Gotcha Covered, Mary Ellen’s Closet, Oliverz, Redman Plumbing & Heating, Bravo Baskets, Dailey Athletic Apparel, Fabulous Hair & Nails, Hinen Printing, Memory Lane, Performance PC, Shoes & Moore, B.E. Computers, Columbia House Interiors, Games-n-More, Julie’s New Sensations, Northside Grille, Precision Arms and The Watering Can. |
