By Chris Meyers Staff writer A Churubusco pizzeria was robbed the day after Christmas and an employee was locked in a cooler during the incident, according to the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department. Shortly after 10:30 a.m. Saturday, an employee of East of Chicago Pizza called police to say he had been robbed by a man in a ski mask who displayed a weapon. Only one employee was working at the time of the robbery at the strip mall located on the north side of town on U.S. 33. The employee told police he was locked in a cooler by a man with a ski mask who displayed a weapon after he entered the business. A vehicle description and description of the suspect were not available for police. Officers were checking to see if a nearby store with an outside surveillance camera may have recorded the arrival of the suspect. Investigators also recorded tire tracks in the snow up to the front of the building which then left in a U-turn back to U.S. 33. The case is under investigation.
