It wasn’t a pretty game for one team but that team was not Whitko. The Lady Wildcats’ softball team came into Friday night’s road contest at Wabash hoping to maintain their perfect record in the Three Rivers Conference. Whitko had no troubles doing so with a dominating defeat of Wabash 16-0. Using a combination of pitchers, Whitko started with ace Jamie Westness for two innings before giving both Kylee Boardman and Beth VanHoozen time at the mound. Westness recorded her 10th win of the season for Whitko. Scoring at least one run in every inning of the five inning mercy ruled game, Whitko had Westness, VanHoozen and Niki Shepherd all go four-for-four from the plate. Westness and Shepherd went on to pick up two RBIs on the night. VanHoozen and Meagan Smith led the Lady Wildcats with three RBIs each with VanHoozen scoring four times her self. Also going perfect for Whitko was senior Audra Winger with a two-for-two day at the plate with one RBI. A total of 18 hits accounted toward Whitko’s 16 runs. The Lady Wildcats did not only keep its record perfect in the TRC at 4-0 but also boosted its overall record to 12-4. The work is not done in the conference for Whitko. The Lady ’Cats will travel to Southwood Monday before ending conference play at home against North Miami Wednesday. Whitko will honor seven seniors May 17 with its final game of the regular season against Huntington North. |
