WARSAW — Out for a midweek run Tuesday, Columbia City cross country was in action at the Warsaw Invitational running into its well-known foe of No. 8 Huntington North.
The No. 15 Lady Eagles were among eight girls teams finishing third with 58 points behind Warsaw’s 52 points.
The leaders at the forefront for the City girls squad didn’t stray from the norm with senior Renee Menzie and freshmen Samantha Roush and Brooke Werstler in the lead pack.
Menzie topped all Columbia City runners in third with Roush right on her heels in fourth. Werstler came in not far behind in 13th.
Samantha Engle posted a top 20 finish in 18th overall.
Other finishers included: Erin Knepple 20th, Carlee Hearld 24th, Mercedes Zello 28th, Heather Shew 36th, Erica Whitehead 47th, Erin Adams 51st.
The boys team finished sixth out of nine teams while Huntington North also won the boys side with 41 points.
Sophomore Adam Bernhard led all the Eagles runners with his 27th-place finish overall.
Freshman Evan Harney and senior Trevor Maggart came in close together. Harney was just two spots back from Bernhard in 29th while Maggart took 33rd.
Other finishers were: Brendon Zoltek 35th, Connor Slavicek 66th, Ben Fausey 78th, John Lawrence 84th.
