COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s softball team opened its season in prime fashion Monday night, hosting Marion in a perfect 10-0 win.
The game was cut short after the Lady Eagles took a 10-0 lead in the fifth inning after a run by junior Alyssa Brandt.
Senior Hannah Schnorr boosted the score in the third inning with a grand slam to take an 8-0 lead.
Columbia City not only put out a strong offensive performance by senior Allie Vodde, who not only pitched a shut-out, but along with her teammates didn’t allow a single Marion runner on base.
Vodde had 10 strikeouts on 16 at bats.
The Lady Eagles’ opening five batters scored in the first inning to take a 5-0 lead.
After a scoreless second inning, Schnorr doubled the score with her grand slam, helping Brandt, Megan Giffin and Kaylee Parks cross the plate.
