SOUTH WHITLEY — With ideas mapped out on paper and architectural drawings in hand, engineers were able to give the town of South Whitley answers to its wastewater treatment plant problems.
After months of debating system failures and control issues, South Whitley Town Council members were able to see how engineers will approach fixing the problems at the newly-completed plant.
“This will relieve some of the pressure the plant is under when we have heavy rainfall like we did this summer,” said David Harvey, a representative with Fleis & Vandenbrink Engineering, Inc. “What I am presenting should take care of a number of problems we’ve experienced.”
Overflow modifications will take place in the wastewater treatment plant itself. Changes were proposed to the existing pump station’s wet well and construction would take place for a new combined sewer overflow spillway.
