WATER BOND: City mulls proposed bond

September 15, 2012

COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City is discussing the possibility of a proposed water bond so the water department can start rolling on its upcoming projects.
“I would like for us to start talking about that so Mike (Dear, Superintendent of the Columbia City Water Department) can move forward on a couple projects potentially, or if we can at least start moving forward on the bonding portion,” said Mayor Ryan Daniel to the Columbia City Common Council Tuesday. “As you know, there are a lot of projects that Mike needs to undertake to strengthen our water system and that’s kind of the route that is proposed to go.”
According to Dear, some of the projects include main replacements, a storage barn, vehicle replacements and tying two mains together from Eagle Glen to CR 100 S.
