COLUMBIA CITY â Columbia Cityâs Water Department has finished some project work and is looking ahead to more as the weather gets warmer.
There have been problems with water mains and low pressure in Eagle Glen and surrounding areas for some time. There is a two-step process for the solution.
The first project is placing anodes into the soil. Since the soil is corrosive, Water Superintendent Mike Dear said the hope is that the soil eats at the anodes and not the pipes.
The second step is looping a water line near County Line 100 South to Eagle Glen to give a second source of water.
There were approximately 12 anodes put in along Ind. 205. The final anode was installed last week.
âHopefully we can get that one started by the end of May,â Dear said.
There will also be about 1,800 inches of main replaced on Frontage Road. Dear said that project is expected to begin in approximately two weeks.
