WCCS board to reorganize at first meeting

January 3, 2011

COLUMBIA CITY — The Whitley County Consolidated School Corporation’s Board of School Trustees will convene tonight in its first meeting of 2011.
On the agenda for tonight’s meeting will be a passel of tasks to set up the upcoming year.
The 7 p.m. meeting will be the first with newly-elected member Christopher Bechtold, who won the Columbia City District seat vacated by Nicki Baker, who decided not to run for another term.
Bechtold was the second highest vote getter in that district behind board president Don Armstrong who held onto his seat for another term.
The nine-member board will begin tonight’s meeting by conducting the annual election of officers, to include president, vice-president and secretary.
A treasurer and deputy treasurer will also be appointed.
The board will officially designate the time, place and date of regular board meetings, which are currently held the first and third Mondays of each month at 7 p.m. in the Marshall Community Building.
Among other administrative tasks on the agenda for the year’s first meeting are:
• Appointment of legal counsel.
• Conflict of interest declarations.
• Establishment of Board of Finance.
• Appointment of board members to Long Range Planning Committee.
• Approval of resolution transferring appropriations for 2010.
