COLUMBIA CITY â€” The Whitley County Consolidated School Corporationâ€™s Board of School Trustees studied a draft complied of the school corporation Vision, Mission and Core Values at Mondayâ€™s meeting in an attempt to have it reviewed by the next regular meeting Oct. 15.
The draft was a result of a brainstorming session held in September by the school board and school administrators. During this session, groups were asked to give specific words or phrases for the schoolâ€™s vision, mission and core values, and the board later worked on common themes mentioned in the meeting.
â€śOn the vision, we have inspiring excellence,â€ť said WCCS Superintendent Dr. Patricia Oâ€™Connor. â€śThe mission is WCCS is a safe, dynamic educational environment empowering students to become educated, productive and responsible citizens.â€ť
For what the school corporation values, the list includes a safe and secure school environment, highest student achievement, professionalism, compassion, dedication, flexibility and accountability.
â€śAlso, continuous growth through implementation of practices, strong relationships and partnerships, dynamic rigorous curriculum and diversity of opportunities and a financial plan aligned to the core values that supports the goals of the corporation,â€ť said Oâ€™Connor.
According to Oâ€™Connor, many of the goals include developing a professional plan, adequate resources and funding for continuous instructional development, continue successful implementation of ETA, establishment of a facility plan for the high school and providing financial resources.
