COLUMBIA CITY — Anne Plunkett, technology director, told the Whitley County Consolidated School (WCCS) board last week that her team had another successful year.
“The success can be seen in the many events that happen on a weekly, daily or even hourly basis that require technology,” said Plunkett. “The majority of these events happen without a thought as a to whether the technology will be working and available for these events to take place.”
Everything from the simple task of using a phone, to retrieving voice mail, to students taking the IREAD test online were mentioned by Plunkett as tasks requiring the use of technology.
Computerized testing, the implementation of 1:1 environment at Eagle Tech Academy (ETA) and the implementation of classroom management software called LanSchool were three of the items Plunkett said stood out among the rest.
In addition, Plunkett said the team has also been working on additional projects in all schools.
“These include but are not limited to implementation of a new firewall which will allow for better access granularity, laptop replacement, the addition of wireless access point to allow for more saturated coverage and remote file access,” said Plunkett.
